Major Partnership with Trans Canada Trails

On International Trails Day, the GCTA and the Great Northern Trail Association co‑hosted a milestone celebration and fundraising event at Skipper Hots Lounge in Saint Lunaire–Griquet, featuring daytime race events on the Great Northern Trail and an evening program with partners and community members. The event marked the Great Northern Trail’s formal inclusion in the 29,000‑kilometre Trans Canada Trail network and celebrated its role as a key established segment within the broader 1000km Great Coastal Trail vision connecting more than 60 communities across the region. Led by GNTA’s established trail system and volunteer base, and supported by GCTA’s regional vision, the day highlighted years of community effort while signalling a new phase of coordinated coastal trail development on the Great Northern Peninsula.
