Lucas holds a PhD in Transdisciplinary Sustainability from Grenfell Campus, Memorial University, where his work focused on integrating environmental stewardship, community systems, and long-term regional sustainability.

In addition to his academic credentials, Lucas has extensive experience working alongside forestry partners, local governments, and community organizations across the Great Northern Peninsula and Newfoundland & Labrador. He approaches project management through an inclusive, systems-based lens. He prioritizes collaboration, local voice, and practical implementation, ensuring that development respects cultural heritage while strengthening rural economies.

For Lucas, the Great Coastal Trail is not simply infrastructure. It is a long-term investment in regional resilience, economic diversification, and the celebration of the Great Northern Peninsula’s communities.
